Every case is important, every problem has a solution and every outcome counts
The following services are delivered across the whole range of compensation schemes such as workers insurance, CTP, life insurance and Lifetime Care and Support and adapted to suit the requirements and jurisdiction of each:
Recovery at Work/Return to Work Programs
Our consultants conduct a thorough assessment of clients’ needs and work with them to identify safe, meaningful and appropriate duties in conjunction with their employers and treating health professionals based on the latest evidence-based research. Coordinated planning with regular reviews and realistic upgrading enables recovery to progress at its expected rate whilst concurrently keeping clients in productive work and connected to their workplace. On-site functional education can be provided to clients and their employers in regards to task, technique or cost-effective environmental modifications.
Tools such as workplace assessments may be used, which involve an in-depth analysis of all job tasks and their various demands as well as other roles in their workplace. A client’s capacity to perform these can be assessed either by observing them in the workplace or conducting more formal testing in our office using standardised functional assessment tools. This can give clients, their employers and treating health professionals peace of mind if there is any concern regarding the suitability of certain tasks or jobs at that time.
Workplace assessments and functional assessments can be offered as part of a program or as single, independent services.
Vocational Redirection Programs
When clients face the prospect of needing to change careers unexpectedly it is often a daunting one that requires significant adjustment. Our consultants work closely with clients to support them through this period and aim not only to engage but to excite them in the process of finding a new direction and ultimately new fulfilling work.
Tools such as vocational assessments are used to guide the planning process by collecting information on the knowledge, skills, abilities and interests clients have already gained during their lives but may not realise they can use in many employment settings. Once an agreement is made on which career direction to take, our consultants work with clients to make the journey as quick as possible by customising intervention according to their needs. This could include anything from developing a resume to practising for interviews or investigating appropriate courses to complete.
Our consultants are well-connected to employer networks and conduct constant reviews of the labour market so there isn’t time wasted preparing for work that is scarce or in industries that aren’t hiring. Depending on the scheme the client is covered by, we have access to a number of generous government incentives to encourage prospective employers to offer our clients opportunities with reduced risk.
Vocational assessment, transferable skills analysis and labour market analysis can be offered as part of a program or as single, independent services.
Earning Capacity/Employability Assessments
Used across and customised for a range of personal injury compensation schemes, these assessments are conducted by our most experienced vocational consultants to determine a client’s current and future ability to earn based on their education, training and experience, as a result of their illness, injury or disability. These are an essential tool for personal injury insurers to use in making reliable and accurate economic decisions for their claims.
Hospital discharge planning
Our experienced occupational therapists can engage with clients even before they leave hospital or a rehabilitation facility by attending discharge planning meetings, liaising with hospital staff and families to ensure discharge is safe and occurs as early as is practicable. We have close links with equipment suppliers, attendant care and domestic service providers who help us to ensure a seamless transition to the community for clients, avoiding uncomfortable, costly and unnecessary delays.
Activities of Daily Living (ADL) Assessment
A comprehensive assessment of a person’s ability to perform all aspects of daily life including personal care, transport, work, domestic tasks, leisure and community integration. Recommendations are provided, which may include education on task simplification/modification end energy conservation, prescription of equipment to aid independence, or temporary personal care or domestic assistance to allow adequate recovery from injury or surgery.
ADL Upgrading programs
The provision of structured upgrading plans to assist clients to resume their previous responsibilities on a gradual basis with the support of a trained therapist, whilst services are progressively reduced.
For those clients with significant injuries where their previous dwellings require modification for them to return to safely and independently. Our occupational therapists assess environmental barriers and provide solutions in conjunction with architects and tradespeople in order to ensure that both clients’ needs and building standards are simultaneously met.
