Support, empowerment and independence
 

Greenlight registered to be a provider of services to the NDIS at the first opportunity in 2013 and has been helping participants, their families and carers to access the support they need to live the most empowered and independent lives possible ever since. As the scheme has progressively been introduced across the country and evolved over time, our therapists have remained heavily involved and are well-versed in the current NDIS processes and requirements. Specifically, Greenlight can offer participants the following disciplines and services:

Occupational Therapy

  • Assessment and therapy support for personal support needs (personal care)

  • Assessment and therapy support to increase skills and independence in every day activities, at home and in the community

  • Functional assessments (to provide a baseline of functioning and support needs)

  • Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) and Supported Independent Living (SIL) assessments

  • Sensory Assessments (to support relationships and/or engagement in occupations)

  • Occupational therapy assessment and support in relation to development of positive behaviour support plans

  • Assistive Technology (aids and equipment) assessment and prescription

Physiotherapy

  • Mobility assessment

  • Physical capacity assessment including balance, muscle strength, coordination, range of movement and posture

  • Gait training

  • Strength and exercise programs including hydrotherapy

  • Equipment prescription

Speech Pathology

  • Speech (producing speech sounds clearly)

  • Language (understanding and using spoken words and sentences)

  • Social communication

  • Literacy (reading and writing)

  • Voice

  • Swallowing and Mealtime Management

  • Augmentative and alternative communication (communication methods such as gesture, signing, communication books and high tech devices)

Psychology

  • Psychological assessment of function and capacity

  • Individual counselling for management of anxiety anxiety and depression, grief and loss, trauma recovery

  • Goal setting

  • Building social skills, confidence and self-esteem

  • Engagement in meaningful activity

  • Relationship strengthening and rebuilding within families

  • Specialist behaviour support services to reduce behaviours of concern and minimise the use of restrictive practices

Behaviour Therapy

  • Psychosocial assessment

  • Behaviour management recommendations for parents, carers and teachers

  • Behaviour therapy for management of emotions, improvement in social skills, confidence, self-esteem and resilience

  • Organisational skills and daily routine management (compliance and independence)

  • General counselling support

Dietetics

  • Nutritional assessment

  • Nutritional advice and education to improve independence in the nutritional elements of healthier food choice, meal planning and preparation and food safety

  • Skill development (such as grocery shopping, meal preparation, cooking, food safety)

  • Nutrition education to assist with the management of other health conditions (such as diabetes, IBS, constipation, osteoporosis, reflux, dysphagia, pressure injury, underweight/overweight, anaemia, food allergies/intolerances)

  • Assistance managing Home Enteral Nutrition (HEN) and supplies

  • Support and education for support workers, carers and families

All of our therapists have a high level of clinical experience enabling them to understand the needs of participants living with significant and permanent disabilities. Equally as importantly though, they will always offer:

  • The responsiveness and follow up participants need and have a right to expect

  • Compassion, empathy and understanding of participants’ unique circumstances

  • Comprehensive, detailed reports written in the style and depth required to meet NDIA requirements and avoid delays

  • Willingness to work collaboratively with other providers with mutual participants to achieve their goals
